Let’s make our faves with Silk!

Silk Soymilk has a whole new taste that I find to be super delightful! It reminds me of slightly sweetened cereal milk, and I’m into it. I love it in my favorite frozen banana, honey, and cinnamon smoothie. Don’t be fooled by this smoothie’s khaki ensemble, it’s subtly sweet frosty goodness. It’s super good poured over my favorite crispy coconut oil granola. Popping a few berries on top doesn’t hurt either. It’s one speedy, yet…

Honey Whole Wheat English Muffin Bread

I’ve got breakfast covered for a couple weeks. I’m going to top this tan bread with butter, sea salt, and honey. I’m going to make toasty peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. I’ll put a fried egg on it, no big deal. I’ll probably include this nook and crannied bread for 2 out of 3 meals a day, ya know? And this bread isn’t knead-y. Stir, pour, set aside to rise, bake. And then your weeks…

Mom’s Wheat Bread (revisited)

I’d like to spend January hibernating and waking up to warm bread. I want grilled cheese sandwiches for lunch every day. Preferably with smashed avocado, mozzarella, and goat cheese. And this bread makes awesome toast. It’s perfectly sweet with honey or maple syrup. For this particular loaf I used a brown sugar and maple syrup combo. So, I hope your weeks are full of warm bread and the best toast. I hope you never run…

Banana Bread Beer Muffins

My mom brought me this tray at Christmas and I think it might be my new favorite. It looks like a dreamy Valentine! And it makes these muffins feel really good about themselves too. I can tell they’re super confident in their red outfits, with their powdered sugar sprinkles. And these are so much more than just a brown muffin. They’ve got style, they’ve got class, they’ve got beer. And they’re tasty! I put some…

Mushroom Shortbread Cookies

Mushrooms are one of the cutest vegetables. They remind me of gnomes and fairy tails. So thanks, nature! Thanks for mushrooms, acorns, and mini pinecones. Nature’s just cute, you guys. So these cookies resemble a vegetable, but are just cookies. They’re late for the whole dressing-up-for-Halloween-thing. They taste like crumb-y good shortbread. I just might want to dunk them in jam like these guys. P.S. Mostly I ate two in a row, really quick, while these…

Pup Frozen Yogurt

Elliot’s the kind of dude-pup that isn’t scared of eating flower shaped frozen yogurt. He’s not too manly for it. He doesn’t discriminate where treats are concerned. If he was a person he’d wear pink with total confidence. I always tell him when I’m making something for him. He tends to get impatient and riled up. He barks at me to hurry up, but I mean, you can’t rush a freezer. So basically, if it’s too hot…

Workin’ It: Roasted Peaches (Michigan Fruit Part 1)

I can’t stop thinking about these peaches! I might have to make them for my parents when they visit. I think everyone would love them! I made these for a special summer issue of  Michigan Blue Magazine. They wanted simple but classy dishes to show off local produce. We did our best to make all of the fruity goodness look like major hotties. OH! I made a total of 4 recipes for this feature. Check back for…

Strawberry Sorbet Honey Shortcakes

I’ve been thinking a lot lately. I’ve been thinking about throwing my worries in the Grand Canyon. And about how perfect tiny strawberries can be turned into edible gems! And I’ve been thinking about strawberry shortcake, and how I want to eat every single remix of it. You can’t have too many shortcake versions. Just like you can’t have too many chocolate chip cookie variations! This shortcake remix is just about as good as the Mariah…

Blueberry Goat Cheese Tart {no bake}

My sister Laura visited this weekend. We bought blueberries at Eastern Market with this tart in mind. We assembled it between backyard beers and impromptu pizza eating. This is a casual tart. It always wears jeans, and never goes in the oven. P.S. I’ve made this tart before strawberry-style. I hadn’t thought of putting blubeberries and goat cheese together until Cindy mentioned these awesome hand pies she made. OMG. She knows things. Blueberry Goat Cheese Tart…

Strawberry Bagels with Honey Cinnamon Cream Cheese

It’s time for summery breakfasts. Breakfast to match our no-sleeves and shortie shorts. Let’s fill our pockets with snacks and go for a long walk. Let’s fill our bagels with berries and top them like they’re donuts. These bagels may be a two-day ordeal, but don’t let that stop you. The first day is no biggie, and the second day involves boiling and baking. It pairs perfectly with morning coffee and mis-matched pajama wearing. I…
