Workin’ It: Summer Cocktails

It’s summer time so it’s prime time for backyard drinking. (I know this especially well after this weekend. Moscow Mules, FTW!) So here are five cocktail recipes to keep your weekends boozy and your mornings bagel-y. You see, I was lucky enough to work with Metro Detroit Bride on this cocktail shoot. Consider them all sampled by me. P.S. Cindy and I made a similar champagne and coulis cocktail for our picnic party last year. Featured booze: L. Mawby…

Workin’ It: Roasted Veggie Salad + Savory Cupcakes + Tomato Soup

Sometimes shoots happen where you get to hang out at your own house by all your own windows. And then to invite your friends over for lunch to eat all the tasty photogenic food. That’s the best kind of shoot. You best believe! Vintage sheet music makes pretty cute photo backdrops. I want that little Rudolph by every wintry situation ever. I want fresh herbs sprinkled on every meal. And let’s have warm salads this…

Workin’ It: Infused Vodka

Infusing vodka is magical. The vodka transforms from clear to fruity brights. Boom. Three days go by and you can casually sip fruity vodka on the rocks. No biggie. For this story I made seven different kinds: watermelon, peach vanilla, cherry, strawberry basil, blueberry, cucumber, and raspberry blueberry blackberry. My favorite is watermelon. It tastes like a refreshing summer dream. I also love the cherry and strawberry basil. So, pretty much you should just slice up…

Workin’ It: Salmon & Strawberry Salsa Crostini (Michigan Fruit Part 2)

Click HERE for the first post, and check back for recipes 3 and 4 in the next couple weeks! The salsa recipe is from Annie’s Eats, and she’s so right about it being salmon’s BFF. It’s magical really. Workin’ It: Roasted Peaches (Michigan Fruit Part 1)

I can’t stop thinking about these peaches! I might have to make them for my parents when they visit. I think everyone would love them! I made these for a special summer issue of  Michigan Blue Magazine. They wanted simple but classy dishes to show off local produce. We did our best to make all of the fruity goodness look like major hotties. OH! I made a total of 4 recipes for this feature. Check back for…

Workin’ It: Cake + Blinis + Mousse

Sometimes I skip lunch and eat cake and blinis. Sometimes I put fresh figs in the middle of a bundt cake. Sometimes I load up my car with dishes and food and hang out with my homegirl Cybelle. Sometimes I get my food styling on freelance-style. I made this stuff awhile back for Michigan Blue Magazine. They wanted warm wintery chocolatey things and appetizer things. So I made a chocolate gingerbread bundt cake! I sautéed…
