Christmas 2011 – A Recap

I hope you all the best holiday! We ate tasty-goodness, as is our tradition.

We wrote out the menu for our feast Christmas Eve. It involved breakfast, daytime snacking, and a big dinner.

I made us sweet and savory crepes for breakfast. Half with strawberry jam, strawberries, and brie, and the rest were filled with crispy proscuitto, gruyere, and spinach.

I’m the sweetie to Jake’s savory. We’re a food ying-yang. I pick dessert and he picks charcuterie. But don’t worry, neither of us discriminate where good food is concerned.

We sipped mimosas all day. They pair well with everything but pickles.

After breakfast we ate cheese, crackers, and various cured meats. This snack that keeps it real until dinner. We had gouda, goat cheese, mushroom brie, extra sharp cheddar, and a soft manchester.

Elliot wore his sweater so that he could look so festive too.

I’m into putting more than one type of cheese on every cracker. Good thing Jake supports cheese duos.

We listened to A Very She & Him Christmas and Elvis and watched Home Alone. We lounged with Elliot and wondered why Kevin McCallister left all the doors unlocked…

Then Jake started dinner while I took Elliot for a walk. He made beef wellington with glazed carrots, and rosemary infused duck fat roasted potatoes.

It was a lovely day full of breezy backyard chilling, bubbly drinks, cheeses galore, a boyfriend with cooking skills, and a pup in a sweater.

P.S. Below are the cookie bags I passed out this year.

They included: Shortbread Elephants, Gingerbread Men, Large Marge Chocolate Chunk Cookies + Sea Salt, and Cocoa Meringue Kisses.

    1. Yeah! It turned out a bit too minty, but pretty. I’m going to work on getting the recipe right. We all need more French silk in our lives.

  1. Jake cooks? Oh, I’m so jealous right now.

Love Elliot’s little sweater. Too cute. Your cheese platter looks delish, cheese is the one thing I went WAY overboard with this Christmas! I love your table cloth too. You’re totes awes.

  2. Yes! Jake is way better at dinner-making than me, that’s for sure.

: ) Elliot felt pretty cool in his sweater.

And yeah man. I totally ate too much cheese also… It’s just so good!

  3. I definitely drank mimosas, attacked a cheese plate, and took a serious nap on Christmas. It’s just the best way to handle the holiday! You and Jake are just kitchen pros!

  4. Yes! I’m glad we both agree about the importance of champagne and cheese. What I’m trying to say is … You put the “champ” in champagne. 🙂
