Hunnybunch Hibiscus Punch

Remember when Charlotte (in Sex & the City, what else?!) was like, “maybe we’re each other’s soul mates and dudes are just fun cool people that come into our lives?!” This i my loose memory of the quote. And she was talking to her lady friends and I feel this way too! I’m 31, and am fortunate to have bomb-ass ladies in my life. Women who are independent and strong and show up for me…

Strawberry Moscow Mules

This drink is my favorite. I kinda won’t shut up about it. Sorry, guys. But mostly once you make it you’ll probably want to shout it from the rooftops too. And if you don’t have a rooftop, then maybe from the top of your picnic table like the neighbor dog that barks incessantly and sounds like he swallowed a speaker and then is barking through it somehow. It is really the un-cutest especially at 2am, however…

Workin’ It: Summer Cocktails

It’s summer time so it’s prime time for backyard drinking. (I know this especially well after this weekend. Moscow Mules, FTW!) So here are five cocktail recipes to keep your weekends boozy and your mornings bagel-y. You see, I was lucky enough to work with Metro Detroit Bride on this cocktail shoot. Consider them all sampled by me. P.S. Cindy and I made a similar champagne and coulis cocktail for our picnic party last year. Featured booze: L. Mawby…

Misc.

sometimes + this and that (the sequel)

Sometimes I infused a BUNCH of vodka with fruit, like nectarine/raspberry, blueberry, blackberry, and strawberry. Sometimes I have one of each flavor in a row in a Moscow Mule with a splash of St. Germaine and life is forever different. And finally Shiner Ruby Redbird is here with summer. P.S. DENIM FOREVER. Sometimes all I want is to hang out in your backyard. Let’s just trade sunglasses and try to eat kabobs and mostly talk about…

Moscow Mule

This song makes me dance, this picture makes me happy, this dude makes me swoon, and this drink reminds me of going to New York, and Christmas Eve and Green Dot Stables. I love it! And there’s something so special about drinking this out of a copper mug. And there’s something even more special about making your own ginger beer. And well, I’d like to whip these up and cheers with a hottie! I’d like to…

Party Time

Lovely Lady Lunch (check it out)

On Saturday Cindy and I threw a lady picnic party in my backyard. You see, last summer my parents visited and we painted my picnic table Mint Majesty. It’s been begging for a party ever since. We planned the menu months ago! We agree that cheese and crackers are always necessary (and caper berries!). In order to make the cheese a bit more ladylike we dressed it up like cake. I’m now officially crazy about gorgonzola,…

Strawberry Rhubarb Vodka

I took a sip of this on the rocks and it was trouble. Boozie Susan, ya know? The tartness of the rhubarb shines through. But mix this with some club soda, a little bit of vanilla bean and lemon or berries, and you’re set. The perfect spring-time drink. Not too sweet, and not too boozy (tasting). I let this sit a few days extra. The strawberries turn into zombies and the vodka turns the perfect…

Christmas 2012 – A Recap

I hope you all had the best Christmas! I baked those cupcakes up there for my BFF’s Friendsmas party. I topped the hell out of them with some of the deer and tree toppers that I’m crazy about. (Keep your eye out for them again super soon, birthday cake style.) This year I borrowed a fun 60’s aluminum tree from a friend of mine who knows what’s up. I think I should maybe keep it…

Workin’ It: Infused Vodka

Infusing vodka is magical. The vodka transforms from clear to fruity brights. Boom. Three days go by and you can casually sip fruity vodka on the rocks. No biggie. For this story I made seven different kinds: watermelon, peach vanilla, cherry, strawberry basil, blueberry, cucumber, and raspberry blueberry blackberry. My favorite is watermelon. It tastes like a refreshing summer dream. I also love the cherry and strawberry basil. So, pretty much you should just slice up…
