South X Saints // Sunday Supper

I popped into Atlanta over the weekend because I needed fried chicken. Erika’s fried chicken to be exact! You see, my girl’s been hosting South X Saints dinners every month. I knew in my heart that I had to make it to one, so over the weekend, we Sunday Suppered. (Did you know we met in Florida a couple years ago?! We bonded over weird food and late night spaghetti with Cindy.) I painted my nails with…

Vegan Roasted Pepper Cornbread

I’m trying to figure out what to tell you guy first. Like do you care that I cleaned my pantries?! There is no longer ancho chili powder strewn. And the other day I was going to get a solid dinner on my own and the next thing I knew I found myself at my kitchen table with chips, salsa and a dream. Why am I telling you about the weird alone at home chips and…

Thanksgiving 2014 // A Recap

Change is good, right?! This year Thanksgiving was a different one for me. I stayed in Michigan (instead of flying to Minnesota, like usual) and cooked for my boyfriend, his parents, da roommate, his mom, sister and aunt. So we painted pumpkins gold, bought cloth napkins, planned out the menu, put a wreath on the front door, and lugged tables to the basement bar. I did a bunch of prep at home. Things like making, drying…

Honey & Cornbread Ice Cream

It was 70 degrees yesterday! I wore a dress with ankle boots and NO tights. This means that summer can happen in a state that won a snow record. A state that had snow multiple feet high for months. Consider this ice cream me raising the roof to summer beccause I want to serve it as a side dish to pulled pork sandwiches and right with some grilled everything. You see, this is honey ice…

Chipotle Chicken Chili

Oh, I’ve made this chili before. I loved it then and I love it now! You see, it doesn’t take long to throw together, the ingredient list isn’t too crazy, and well it’s thickened with a beer + masa harina mixture that is just magical! I love how it’s kinda the lovechild of a chili and a stew and I like how pretty it is accessorized garnish-style. I’d serve this to my favorites! I’d serve…

Pumpkin Cornbread

I’ve made this a bunch, you guys! I love it so very much. I like it with cider or coffee for breakfast and with soup for dinner, or even as a late night snack with honey butter. Sometimes I eat all the cornbread. Sometimes I ask Elliot if he can tell that I ate an embarrassing amount. He always says I still look fly. I’m thinking he’s being a bit too nice, but I love…

Insta-recipes #1

Ok! So, I thought it might be fun to revisit some things I’ve posted on Instagram to share the recipes with you guys. I really hope you don’t mind! P.S. I didn’t make those donut holes and macarons up there, but aren’t they good-lookin’! And yeah, I totally want to take a nap on a pile of them. My friend Dana came over for dinner a while back and it was just after I revisited…

Single Lady Cornbread Pizza

Sometimes my hunger sneaks up on me and I require dinner on the quick. Sometimes on these nights I’m feeling too lazy to grate cheese. (Who am I!?) That’s where this pizza comes in. The best part, besides it’s tastiness, is that this can be whipped up and ready to eat in under 30 minutes. There’s just no reason not to make this all will-nilly-like, ya’ know? It’s a breeze to throw together and goodness…

Breakfast Cornbread with Blueberries & Goat Cheese

I’ve been listening to Halo by Beyonce lately because of that part in Girls where Hannah does the dance from the video. I’ve been sleeping in as late as possible before work. I’ve paid too much attention to my snooze button. I’ve worn hot pink pants, and called my mom because I miss her. And I’ve made you guys this cornbread. I sprinkled it with giant sweet blueberries* and crumbled goat cheese. I’ve eaten it for…
