Meet Megabite

I am a redhead who likes to spend most of my spare time in the kitchen.

My name is Megan DeKok and I’m a 30 year old lady icing donuts in the suburbs of Detroit with my pup Elliot. My hair’s shorter now and I totally ruined those sandals up there going kayaking, but just know that the cute pup you see is still my BFF and I still daydream about eating cookies until I’m full.

I work full time as a community manager for a couple different brands. Basically this means I say “totes” and “bestie” a lot for my job and take pictures of things and post them on social media. It’s really fun.

My interest in food started watching my mom cook and bake treats for years. When I moved out on my own I realized that I am the kind of girl who requires homemade strawberry jam for my toast and homemade hot fudge for my ice cream. So I started making things! I also love to entertain! Sometimes I throw brunch parties happen and I tell you all about them.

  1. Megabite, You are great. This is a super page and I am looking forward to see how you develop it and then benefit from the recipes you put on here.

  2. Megan, I am soooo very proud of you! You are so talented in many, many ways. I love looking at what you are doing! Keep them coming!

  3. Yum! You make me wish I liked to bake! 😉 So proud of you Meg and look forward to spending time here. Who knows – Uncle Jon might get a treat baked by me inspired by you one of these days.

  4. I am impressed. I love the creativity that you use in the pictures. I saw the bite out of the bread and it make me hungry. I will have to go home and get some. Maybe Mum will make some bread.

  5. My husband, Chris, works with Jake who has been kind enough to share with us some of your tasty treats! Your blog has kind of inspired me to start baking more and even start a blog of my own. I hope I can keep on top of it…Chris can’t wait for me to try some of your recipes!

  6. Hey Megan!! It’s Kerri(Brown)Welch. I used to babysit for you. Remember? It’s no wonder you love to bake. Your mom was an amazing baker & cook. I remember her cinnamon rolls, all the cookies she made for church at Christmas time and her homemade pizza (for dinner while I was babysitting). I too love to bake and so does my 3 year old son Logan. All your recipes look amazing. I’m going to have to try some. Love the website Meg. Tell your family I said HI!! Kerri

  7. Megan, you give me some great ideas….I love to bake, cook and especially eat…

You have a great perspective in your photos of your food. I especially like the pic of your dog waiting, hoping to have something drop on the floor.

  8. Hey Megabite!
Just love your site. You have proved to me old dogs can learn new tricks! I love all your ideas and your receipes. Whenever I make something they all say Mom must have been visiting with Megabite again!! Keep it up. So good to see you once awhile at church. Saw the back of your red head yesterday but didn’t get to talk with you come visit again. Again love the website, thanks for helping us all do some great cooking! P.S. our dog Cosmo loves it in the kitchen also and can’t wait for his share!

  10. I came across your blog while doing some research for an upcoming baking project. After getting lost in it for about an hour, drooling, laughing, envying, wishing, bookmarking and planning, you are now one of my culinary heroes. I have also shared you with my friends! Much food love, Julia in TX.

  11. You have been a baking legend for years. I have only heard of your talents from Alex (and my mom).Alex told me of your site, and I am truly impressed, inspired, and just wanted to wish you much success on your passion!!!

  12. Thanks, Alyssa! 🙂 You should totally get Alex to bring you some cupcakes. I left a ton of them at his house yesterday.

  13. Megabite! This black bean and sweet potato recipe looks delish! I love black beans. I also love warm french lentils. I realized this afternoon after eating some for lunch that several of my favorite dishes have warm french lentils in them. Do you have any that you care to share?

  14. Thanks, Roxanne! I don’t have any lentil recipes to share unfortunately. The truth is, I’ve only cooked with lentils once! I’d love to try your favorite lunch though.

  15. I, too, have a deep appreciation for all things food. I just spent the day baking cupcakes (vanilla almond with salted caramel butter cream and cookies and cream!) with my mother and one-year-old daughter and upon hearing this, my old neighbor Rhonda sent me to your website (me thinks she’s friends with your mother). Needless to say, I adore it. Thanks for all the wonderful recipes soon to be gracing my palate.

  16. I just searched strawberry cheesecake cupcakes and your blog came up….I am now hooked! I’m a redhead from Kentucky who LOVES to bake and cook! The cupcakes were amazing, I have more in the oven right now 🙂 I’ll definitely be visiting your blog for more of your recipes!!! THANKS!!

  17. Hey,
I’m 14 and live in Missouri. I’ve loved cooking and I have red hair also. I’ve been cooking since I was 5. My mom never has really been a huge fan of cooking or baking, but I spend all day (when not in school) watching cakeboss, cupcake wars, chopped, kitchen boss, & everything on the cooking channel. I love cooking, but my grandma is the reason why. I wish my mom would help more often, but I know he won’t. I googled cheesecake cupcakes because I got nominated to bake for my grandmas 80th birthday, & your erasure came up. I’ve been looking and read for over an hour now. Your recipes have helped alot, & I’ve bookmarked over half of them on my phone. I want to be good enough to have my own business, & practice makes perfect!! THANK YOU.
