Christmas 2013 – A Recap

Christmas was full of cake, perogi, cinnamon rolls, and pizza. I guess I should’ve said Merry Carbmas, ya know? I made a cake for no reason other than that I was out of World Peace Cookies that Nicole gave me. I was having chocolate withdrawal. I also knew I wanted to make my mom’s no-knead cinnamon rolls for brunch at my brother’s house.  The dough is super thoughtful! You just stir it all up and pop…

Chocolate North Pole Cake

While in my heart, I’m totes kinda grinchy, in my baked goods I’m totally Elf. I mean, the other day when I was eating waffles for dinner I totally thought that I might like maple syrup as much as that dude. (What am I saying?!) Anyhow, this cake is easy-breezy! A perfect Tuesday afternoon cake. So I totally recommend whipping this up to take to your boyfriend’s mom’s house or to your BFF’s aunt’s house…

Homemade Hani O’clock

I love Hanis. I just really do! Go get one from National Coney Island with a coney dog for dessert! Oh! And fries. Definitely, fries. Better yet, make one at home! And the lettuce and tomato makes this sandwich kinda Christmas-y, wouldn’t you say? Anyhow, these are made on fluffy pita bread (like naan!) and are made with swiss and American cheese. I went the swiss and brie route though and it totally tastes similar! Brie melts similarly…

Wintertime Favorites

Hope you’re having a lovely and magical, winter! One filled with surprise presents in the mail, plenty of hot cocoa, cookies, goat cheese, and holiday beers galore. My online lady friend Sarah (who takes such lovely photos) mailed me this fondue pot! I pinned it awhile ago so she knew I loved it! It…

Orange Biscuits

I have these memories, as a kid, of my mom making biscuits at all hours. Sometimes a gal just needs a biscuit, ya know? Sometimes it’d be an evening craving and we’d all eat warm biscuits with butter or honey or jam before bed. Now I know that I’m doing alright by when I get super biscuit-hungry. Things are ok! There are warm biscuits! They make me most happy on a weekend morning while the…

Mississippi Mud Pie Brownie Ice Cream

The lovely Bev is having twins! Soon! So, let’s just say, that when I heard about this virtual baby shower, I knew I wanted in. You see, Bev is just lovely! And funny! And yay, she’s having twins! It’s pretty major! I was perusing recipes when I spotted these brownies on her site. I knew turning them into an ice cream would be just the thing to kick the massive chocolate cravings going on. I’m…

Thanksgiving 2013 // a recap

I did my usual fly-to-Minnesota thing this year for Thanksgiving. My favorite part was probably when my mom let me eat a middle roll before dinner. I was so hungry, you know? Can you believe I flew some of those bling-bling cookies there? I put them in a little ice cream tub and none of them broke! Wednesday night was our usual pumpkin pizza night. This year I made one of my favorites: White Pizza…

Happy Thanksgiving + Bling Cookies

Happy Thanksgiving, you guys! I’m thankful for each and every one of you! It’s just the truth! I’m also thankful for puppies, avocados, lobster rolls, honey pies, late-night adventure dinners, beers that taste like ice cream, root beer floats, and bling-bling gold sugar cookies. I’m thankful for super-model dough f’sho, cookie letters, cookie-cutters with handles, rolling pins with red handles, and big huge baking trays. I’m thankful for breakfast dates with my dad, and how…
