Fruity Boozy Ice Cream Floats

If you want to impress your dog bake him these treats. If you want to impress your bread, make this jam. If you want to impress your sisters, make strawberry infused vodka and orange creamsicle ice cream floats.

My sisters aren’t my neighbors. One lives in Illinois, the other lives in Minnesota. So when I knew these two lovely ladies were going to stay with me this weekend, I knew I needed to get girly with it.

And my upper flat is a toasty one. This drink was our air conditioner.

This, and some large-marge fans.

Basically, if you want to get together with your sisters or favorite ladies, you should make this. Both the vodka and ice cream are simple! And together they make the most fun summer drink of all.

Orange Creamsicle Ice Cream

Ingredients:

  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • grated zest of 3 oranges
  • 1 1/4 cups freshly squeezed orange juice (from 4-5 large oranges)
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup half and half
  • 2 t Grand Marnier or another orange liquor

Directions:

  1. Place the sugar and zest in a blender until the zest is very fine, or until your blender gets mad that you’re trying to blend stuff without liquid. Add the orange juice, sour cream, half and half, and Grand Marnier and blend until the sugar is dissolved.
  2. Chill the mixture thoroughly, then freeze in your ice cream maker according to the manufacturer’s directions.

  3. These look super delicious.
You know what else is delicious, your photographs. Just had a look at your first entry (found you about then from a link on Joy the Baker) and it is incredible the difference in your photo style.

I think it is time for a new header though, to go with that delicious pink counter top the grey (we spell it like that in the UK) so isn’t cute enough any more 🙂

  4. Thanks Sian! You are so sweet!

And you’re so right about the new header! Pink is the new grey.

I just really want to redesign my whole blog, but there’s no reason the header should suffer until then, right?

    xo
