French Bread Pizza

I’ve been eating cereal for dinner lately. Cereal or bread. Carbs on top of carbs.

So here’s a way to get carby with it, while still actually making something, and it tastes like pizza and it’s not weird like the frozen dudes.

Jake made us french bread on Saturday morning. And since we are the kind people who always have pizza ingredients handy, we made these. They are tasty, quick, and way better than cereal for dinner.

French Bread Pizza {serves 4}
This is Jake’s recipe. He’s a dreamboat.

Ingredients:

  • 1 loaf of french bread
  • 1/2 cup marinara sauce
  • 2 cups mozzarella, give or take
  • some crumbled goat cheese
  • pepperoni or procuitto

Directions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F. Get out a baking sheet or two.
  2. Slice the french bread in half width-wise (Is width-wise a thing?) making 2 stubby halves, and then in half again separating the top of the bread from the bottom. Like below:
  3. Place the french bread center-side up on your baking sheets. Top with sauce, cheese and cured meats of your choice.
  4. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until cheese is melty and edges of bread are crispy.

  1. Just a note on the cinnamon rolls. I tried them with margarine, and believe that butter must be better. Also used the disposable aluminum tins, so maybe that accounts for the sides and bottoms baking more quickly than the top and center? I’m still getting used to my new oven, so even that could be the problem. Hey, we still ate them. They seem to freeze well, too.

  2. Jake is kind of my hero right now. I’m a big fan of alternate crusts for pizzas and what could be better than french bread? I’m going to make these for my family over Christmas break, for sure 🙂
